Deletion of your data

Clypt is a local-first application. Your personal data (clypts, collections, tags) is stored only on your device. Here is how to permanently delete it.

Last updated : 05 / 06 / 2026 Version : 1.1 Application : Clypt for Android 8.0+
01

Delete all your local data

Clypt stores your clypts, collections, tags and notes exclusively in the application's private sandbox on your phone. Uninstalling erases everything, immediately and permanently.

  1. Open the Settings of your Android phone.
  2. Go to AppsClypt.
  3. Tap Uninstall.
All local data is immediately deleted. No trace is kept on the device after uninstallation.
02

Delete your Google Drive backup

If you enabled the optional Drive backup, an encrypted copy of your database is stored in the private AppData folder of your Google Drive. To delete it:

  1. Go to your Google account settings.
  2. Open Manage apps (Data & privacy › Connected apps).
  3. Select Clypt from the list.
  4. Tap Delete data.

This permanently deletes the encrypted backup. It cannot be restored afterwards, including by us.

03

Delete your sync data

If you enabled multi-device sync, your clypts travel encrypted through your own Google Drive (private AppData folder). Nothing is stored on Afinov's servers. To remove this data:

  1. In the Clypt app, open the sync settings and tap Reset sync (the device leaves the group).
  2. Delete Clypt's Drive data as shown in the previous step: this also erases the sync files from your Drive.

As this data is end-to-end encrypted and stored in your own Drive, it is unreadable by us and you keep full control of it.

04

Delete your anonymous analytics data

If you enabled anonymous statistics sharing, Clypt sends aggregated counters tied to an anonymous UUID generated on your device. To request their deletion:

  1. In the Clypt app, open SettingsAboutUUID and copy your anonymous UUID.
  2. Send an email to dev@afinov.net with the subject "Clypt data deletion", pasting your UUID in the message.
  3. We process the request within 30 days and confirm the deletion by reply email.

The anonymous UUID is not linked to any identifiable information. Once deleted, your counters can no longer be tied back to your installation.
